The project “My Future, My Choice – Empowered Women and Girls for Transparent and Inclusive Local Elections 2025” aims to strengthen the participation of young women in democratic processes and contribute to fairer, more inclusive elections in the Republic of North Macedonia.
The project focuses on young women from both urban and rural areas, who often face limited access to information, social pressures, and insufficient involvement in political processes.
What we do
Through this project, we work on:
- strengthening the knowledge and skills of young women regarding electoral processes
- actively engaging them as election observers
- raising public awareness about the importance of women’s participation
- initiating systemic changes through gender-disaggregated data
The activities include educational workshops, practical training on election monitoring, and a public campaign aimed at mobilizing young women.
Why it matters
In the Republic of North Macedonia, especially in rural areas, young women face significant barriers to active participation in elections—from family influence on voting decisions to a lack of information and political education.
This project directly addresses these challenges by creating space for young women to become informed, active, and independent participants in democratic processes.
Expected impact
The project will contribute to:
- increased voter turnout among young women
- greater representation of women in election monitoring
- strengthened civic engagement within communities
- a stronger foundation for policymaking based on gender-disaggregated data
